Your Portable Man-Cave

Shoes can be profound. I found my purpose in a pair of shoes.

___

Your shoe is where your sole meets your soul. The shoe is where we get some of our greatest motivational insights:

Walk your talk

Where the rubber hits the road

Walk a mile in another man’s shoes.

The shoes make the man… or at least they take the man. My shoes are my sole mates. Without them, I would never have found my Soul Mate… or pretty much anything else.

The shoe is simple and everyday, just like a soul. It contains our best and our worst. In the shoe is where we log most of our miles and most of our smiles (In Canada we use kilometers, but kilometers is really hard to rhyme unless you are a Klingon Slam Poet…). Our shoes take a beating every day and still, they keep it all together.

Where would we be without our shoes?

In my 20’s, some friends and I hiked the historic Chilkoot Trail. This trail retraces the steps of the Klondike gold rush trail. It was a fantastic trip, but my feet took a beating. By the time the trip was over, I had 17 blisters.

My boots were poorly fit and left me with blisters and regret. Shoes can do that to us. Sometimes our soles and our souls, give us troubles.

A long time ago, I ditched my hiking boots in favor of a good pair of flats or my running shoes. It took me a while to get it, but I have learned that shoes are nothing more than a portable man-cave. Perfectly fit to the man, portable and unique in every way.
